ABOUT THE MAMA

Erica Marcus started her yoga and mindfulness practice 15 years ago as a means of addressing some perfectionistic tendencies. Since then, it has infiltrated all aspects of her life, and most recently has served her well as a crazed new mom.


Professionally, she runs programming in yoga and mindfulness for students, teachers, and school districts around New England (Learn more about this work at Wise Minds. Big Hearts). Other important parts activities in her life include writing, hiking, surfing, painting, and eating ice cream.

ABOUT MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is about paying attention the present moment with deep compassion. We can bring this compassionate awareness to our internal and external experiences by tuning in to our senses, thoughts, and emotions.

We can cultivate this elusive quality through formal mindfulness meditation, where we bring our attention to any anchor point and do loving kindness practices. In the latter, we intentionally cultivate a kind, gentle awareness. We can also just evoke mindfulness at any moment, allowing us a deeper connection to what is.
