Day 7: It's like this right now.

I can't tell you how many times I've wished my baby was doing something different. I just wish she'd... wake up. Go back to sleep. Finish eating. Not poop so much. Stop crying. Please stop crying. PLEASE STOP CRYING!!! The only thing that I have found that helps with this is to stop wishing things are different than they are. You can't wish anything into existence. You can only accept reality exactly as it is, and act as best you can in that reality. A teacher once gave me this helpful refrain: “It's like this right now.” Just saying those words helps me move from judgement to observation. “It's like this right now.” It reminds me it won't always be like this. It just is right now. She will wake up. She will go to sleep. She will stop crying.
But, “It's like this right now.”
