Day 34: Listen to Your Body

Our bodies are constantly feeding us information. If we slow down enough to listen, we can adjust accordingly. After the first month of running on pure adrenaline and coffee, I was suddenly hit with the weight of it all. The not sleeping, not stretching, not eating well caught up with me, and I started dragging. When I finally stopped to listen, there were some minor changes I realized I could make that could exponentially improve the quality of my day. I reintroduced gentle guided yoga into my life. Even 15-30 minute sessions helped me get back into my body and open up areas, like my shoulders, that had calcified into a perma-hunched position. So take a moment, any moment, to listen to your body. Feel where it aches and cries out for some movement. Roll your arches over a tennis ball. Notice your diet and where you could eat a strawberry instead of an oreo. Coerce your partner into an impromptu shoulder rub. Your body will thank you.
