It is un-f**ing-believable what our bodies are able to do in order to create life. They expand, manipulate our hormones, produce 50% more blood flowing through our veins, contract so powerfully that we can push a tiny human out, somehow convert the food we consume into a life force, etc, etc, etc.

Our bodies are truly miraculous. And we can choose to besmirch a few stretch marks, or we can be totally in awe of the amazingness of our bodies. We, literally, created life. We grew a tiny human (or humans).

It can be easy to lose sight of this when caught up in the body expectations of our culture. In this context, we may be manipulated into believing that our bodies are something to be ashamed of. That we should always be aspiring to "take off that last 10 lbs of baby weight." That we are not the amazing, strong folks who literally brought life into this world.

Our initial thoughts are often completely out of our control. They are spontaneous and based on our conditioning from this culture we are steeped in. Do not fight these. Instead, respond to these concerns with compassion, "Yes, boo-boo, you're belly is a little saggier, and guess why? You grew a human, you bad ass you! You're powerful. You're magnificent. You're a warrior woman."
