Day 50: Find Your Mamas

Nobody cares much about the minutia of your baby's behavior outside of your partner, your immediate family, and your mama bear clan. I highly recommend finding the latter of these to create relationships in which you can share your authentic joys and struggles.
You can text them all day long about poop color, new noises, funny rashes, and they write back sharing humorous memes and knowing "me toos." You can sit with them for hours, boobs out, babies screaming or sleeping or chilling, and there's no pressure to make that situation any different than it is. You can seek advice or reassurance.
I have been holding tight to these women in my life. Their ability to deeply empathize with my day-to-day keeps me afloat.
So find your Mamas, through lactation groups, mama and me yoga, local baby and me gatherings, maybe even online forums, wherever, and build those relationships strong. It's worth it.
A special thanks to Birth Roots of Portland, ME for facilitating so many of these invaluable relationships.
