Day 75: Rainbows and Unicorns

Dan Harris astutely noticed that practicing mindfulness meditation will not make your life “a nonstop parade of rainbows and unicorns.” But it will help you delight in the rainbows and unicorns when they appear.

There are so many of these moments...I can’t believe how adorable it is when a baby starts recognizing her hands. She stares at them intently, turning them back and forth. Her smiles are now wide and open mouthed and for real, not just gas. She occasionally sleeps for reasonable amounts of time at night. These are just a few of the completely awe-inspiring experiences I have had with the baby.

Be there to witness these rainbow and unicorn moments, my friends. Delight in them. Every time. These firsts will never happen again exactly as they are now. Set an intention in the morning, when you wake up, to see as many magical moments as you can with your child, and prepare to be amazed.
